Catching up…

I’ve been rather lax regarding social media lately, as I’ve been working on some PhD deadlines. I’ll try to keep more current now.

So…

The June episode of the podcast Dark Dreams was dedicated to the late Richard Matheson and featured a reading by E. S. Winn of my story “Voices” and an interview with Joe Lansdale. The reading is on YouTube: CLICK HERE.

Also, regarding spoken words, Audible will be publishing audio versions of my novels The Silent; The Man Who Melted; The Rebel: an Imagined Life of James Dean; and the collection Promised Land: Stories of Another America, which is the companion volume to The Rebel. Publication dates to be announced.

A collection of early stories co-authored with longtime friend and colleague George Zebrowski has been published as half of Wildside Double #27. It’s called Decimated: Ten Science Fiction Stories. George and I wrote “afterwords” to the stories and a general introduction, all in the form of a dialogue to give readers a sense of the time and place…and the green excitement of two young Turks learning their craft. The other half of the double is a wonderful collection by Pam Sargent: Dream of Venus and Other Science Fiction Stories. Here is a link to both titles CLICK HERE and reviews: CLICK and CLICK

My short story “Timetipping” will be reprinted in Galaxy’s Edge Magazine, edited by Mike Resnick;  a new Australian/US speculative fiction magazine called Crowded will reprint my story “Marilyn”; and “Camps” will appear in the forthcoming anthology Fresh Fear.

“The Island of Time,” my short story homage to Gene Wolfe is now out in Shadows of the New Sun: Stories in Honor of Gene Wolfe. Editors J. E. Mooney and Bill Fawcett have put together a terrific list of contributors (he says modestly): two stories by Gene, and work from Neil Gaiman, Joe Haldeman, Timothy Zahn, Steven Savile, David Drake, Nancy Kress, Michael Swanwick, Michael A. Stackpole, Mike Resnick and Barry N. Malzberg, Aaron Alston, Todd McCaffrey, Judi Rohrig, William C. Dietz, Mark Aramini, Jody Lyn Nye, and David Brin. CLICK HERE

And on matters editorial, the lovely folks at Baen Ebooks have brought out the Dozois/Dann Theme Anthology Bundle 6, which includes Dragons, Horses, Little People, Mermaids, and Sorcerers CLICK HERE. The books can also be purchased as individual titles, of course.

I also had the privilege of launching Kim Wilkins’ novella collection The Year of Ancient Ghosts at the Avid Reader bookstore in Brisbane. It’s extraordinarily strong work. It was standing-room only, and many, many books were sold!  CLICK HERE

More news forthcoming…it has been quite full-on these past few months.

Cheers!
