Jack to speak at event with astronomer Fred Watson…

Jack will be speaking at an event hosted by the RiAus (Royal Institution of Australia). The topic is Science Fiction to Science Fact. Jack and astronomer and popular-science writer Fred Watson will explore how science and science fiction borrow from each other to entertain and to expand knowledge of the universe. In association with the Playing With Words Festival, the event will take place on Sunday 11 July from 10:45 am to 12:15 pm at the West Gippsland Arts Center, Warragul, Victoria, Australia. Jack’s essay “Antinomies” and “Life Matters” on ABC National…

Jack’s essay “Antinomies” has been published in 50 Voices of Disbelief, edited by Russell Blackford and Udo Schuklenk (Wiley-Blackwell). Jack was a guest on ABC Radio National’s Life Matters. This was the final talk-back show of the year, and you can listen to the show or download it as a podcast. You will also find an excerpt from the essay, which they have titled “An Atheist’s Prayer.”

The Dragon Book—Jack’s new blockbuster young adult anthology co-edited with the redoubtable Gardner Dozois—has just been published by Penguin in the US, Random House in Australia, and The Anderson Press (part of Random House) in the UK.
